Snagit

Read instrutions carefully

After you install the program, start it up and run through the Wizard's default settings. When you get to the SnagIt program window, do the following:

On the Input menu, choose Advanced -> DirectX

(The program will tell you that your 'trigger' for taking screenshots will be the Scroll Lock key. This can not be changed.)

On the Output menu, choose File, then go back into the Output menu and select Properties...

In the Properties dialog on the Image File tab, select JPG from the File Format window. Under File Name, click the Automatic File Name radio button and fill in the prefix field with a name. Finally, click the ellipsis mark button next to Output Folder and navigate to that folder you created where the screenshots will go. Finally, click the Catalog Browser tab, and uncheck the two checkboxes under Catalog Browser options. Click OK to leave this dialog.

Last, you will set up the color correction so the capture automatically adjusts the gamma and contrast. In the Filters menu, select Color Effects -> Gamma, and set it to 1.25. Select Filters -> Color Effects -> Contrast and set it to 25. These are the minimum settings I use (I still find them to be a bit too dark and boost the brightness setting just a touch too). If you find that your screens are too washed out, move the sliders around a bit to experiment.

The program has to be running in the background to take screenshots. Don't forget to start it up before Jumpgate!

BTW to keep SnagIt from minimizing the game window, click Output, Properties, select the Catalog Browser tab, and uncheck the checkboxes next to options labeled "Start Browser when image is added to catalog" and "Show Browser when image is added to catalog"

First couple of shots it will hisetate a little after that it is smooth.

Haaayy...I use snagit  Seriously considering paying for it, but you don't have to - after 30 days it puts some caption on the picture.

You can also use a FREE program that measures both your DirectX framerates in games as well as enabling you to hotkey screenshots.

JGRot has a built-in snapshot function. Photos can be taken and saved (JPG or BMP) in-game by pressing the PrintScreen key.
You can download JGRot here: http://www.myrotacol.net/html/jgrot.php

I haven't tried it, but this looks like it might be what vorlon31 is looking for.
