okay, folks! lemmie know if seeing a 360pixel or 480pixel is worth the bandwidth!

this will be temporary till we vote on bandwidth and server glutt. Remember, some of us use 56k still...is the cost/benefit worth it? Let me know because i'm going to be doing animations for all types of roids.
oh yeah, BTW, i was doing time calculations as well. (approx times; one financier; 0velocity; large roid; offline; quantar mining speed bonus included)

you can see the effects. draining a roid < 33% volume is silly unless you're packing serious firepower The only important bit in the whole test is the laser efficiency matched to roid capacity %. Which will only be useful combined with UMEC's classified roid heating animations...with a little homework we can eyeball a roid that's "sort of" blue and figure out do a degree of certainty if it's worth licking.
BTW, going a bit off-topic, here's something i'm doing regarding missions. (i'll be using the heating times to calc the time it takes to do a mining mission compared to other mission templates)
http://razorskiss.net/archives/UMEC/temp/testing123.gif
FYI, there are detailed and highly accurate mining laser statistics located on UMEC and myrotacol.net and planetnetdevil...i'll post the stats below for your convenience.
Code: |
mining official actual drain
laser drain (calc'd at 1.000 cargo)
====== ======== ============
Duster .0062 .003
Excavat .007 .0035
Cracker .011 .0055
Broker .015 .0075
Banker .04 .02
Financi .06 .03 |
now, suffice to say that the actual drain (units/sec) after 1 unit from a large roid (25 cap) is HALF official stated drain. (in fact, the drain rate after 1 minute is not even close to the official.)Active mining supposedly speeds it up by x2, but i'm not sure exactly how that works or even if it's more...That'll be my next test. oh, last but not least is QUANTAR mining bonus that not only adds a hidden +10% volume at sale, but speeds our mining lasers by 10% (notice test results of heating was conducted with quantar speed bonus)
