*sigh* Well, thanks to a moronic post in general forum by a scriptkiddie we now are updated to the latest phpBB version, with much thanks to DLinkOZ for the grunt work.

He also helped me figure out how to stop all those insane russian spam artists from making annoying posts about viagra. Of course, now i'm faced with the uneviable task of deleting hundreds of the blighters from the memberlist.

i went and grovelled, here, in hopes of a solution.

wow. just cleaned out 14 pages of memberlist full of spam, plus a month of spam posts and threads. blech!

updated this sucker to version 2.0.6c best damned mod (and only) i've ever installed here.

ahahaha...i went back to october 17th, 2006 deleting pretty much every single damned spammer who's registered. 15 minutes ago our user memberlist was "We have 833 registered users"

I just trimmed the member list again, we were at over 1100 when I started, I may have gone slightly overboard. insane

And the posting permissions have been changed to private for those sections that weren't already there.
